A PASSION FOR BOOTS & FLOPS

We get a lot of questions on why boots and flip-flops and what made us start Rickshaw. Our story actually dates back to Co-Founder, Alvie Franklin Faulkenbery IV (Little Alvie's) grandfather, Alvie Franklin Faulkenbery II (Big Alvie) a WWII veteran, long-time adventurer with an incredible passion for beautiful, classic western boots. Big Alvie only wore the highest quality boots until he passed away a little over 10 years ago. Shortly after, Little Alvie inherited all of his grandfather's boots and at the time, believed he would never wear any of them.

Little Alvie grew up wearing flip-flops as his footwear of choice no matter the occasion. He wore flip-flops during his college graduation, throughout every winter season, and even traveled around the world in his favorite pair of flops. He had a passion for flip-flops but it wasn’t until his first time wearing his grandfather's boots that he realized what he had been missing.

Like many Austinites, Little Alvie started wearing boots and flip-flops all of the time. He grew so passionate about the two together that he started Rickshaw with his co-founder, Clay Sexton who was also a strong advocate for Austin’s favorite footwear.

Once they found a way to bring that same style of a classic and extremely comfortable western boot direct-to-consumer, they realized they were on to something. Now customers everywhere get to skip the extra middleman fees and buy Austin's favorite footwear at a fraction of the price.
